Nozzles are special flow meters which are - due to their construction - more resistant to long-time heat and pressure stress (high-pressure steam, feed water). The nozzles are especially serviceable on a high-pressure part of boiler systems and distribution pipes.

ISA 1932 NOZZLES
Critical flow venturi nozzles
Operation principle of Venturi nozzle: If the pressure ratio in front of and behind the nozzle exceeds critical level, gas flow in the throat is accelerated to critical speed (it is equal to local speed of sound).
Multi-nozzles
After thirty years of discussion, testing and detailed analyses in 1997 there was issued ISO 5801 specifying geometry, way of use including assembly and operation conditions of meters used as testing meters for serial production of ventilation equipment.
Special nozzles
Venturi nozzles
The Venturi nozzle is designed as a combination of the ISA 1932 nozzle and the Venturi tube. Tapered part of the Venturi nozzle is the same as round inlet of the ISA 1932 and it enters into cylindrical orifice with conical Venturi similar to the one in the Venturi tube. Venturi makes the difference only in permanent loss in pressure deduced from the Venturi nozzle, vertex angle is 30°C or lower. These have also smaller measures of measured flows than orifice plates.
