ANSI B 16.36 Orifice Plates

Clona ANSI 1636Taping flanges with centric orifice plate provide economic and progressive method of build-in orifice plate measurement of flow volume. Since the tapings of differential pressure are integrated directly into the flange body, there is no need to supply orifice plate flange or to bore pressure tapings into the piping face.

Main component of the metering orifice plate unit under ASME B 16.36 is made of centric plate which can be delivered as an individual item.

Its finish depends on type of sealing surface of flanges (RF or RTJ) and it is clamped between pair of taping flanges. Standard plates are made of 304 or 316 grade stainless steel, on request of other materials. Plate can be supplied with so-called drainage bore for gases, event. ventilation bore for other materials. On the plate handle there are stamped main data – such as inside diameter of piping, pressure class, material, bore diameter etc.

Taping flanges are made in compliance with requirements given by ASME B 16.36 and are available in pressure classes 300-2500 lb. Each unit of taping flanges is equipped by the pair of pressure tapings, bolts, nuts, sealing and distance bolts (simplifying plate take-out). Flanges are supplied with two tapings (1/2"NPT thread), one with blinding for blow-off.
Usually these are „flange" tapings, but corner pressure tapings are possible as well.

Flanges are available in two various finishes of sealing surfaces: RF or RTJ. Inner diameter (or „schedule") of piping has to be specified during the order.

Taping flange units can be supplied by rinsing rings which subsitute plate during pipe rinsing succeeding its welding or other technological interventions. Rinsing rings with the same inner diameter of the piping prevent damage of a plate from scale residue and other impurities. On request taping flange units with centric orifice plate can be also supplied with direct piping sections of the length 2D in front of and 2D behind the orifice plate.

If the centric orifice plate with flange pressure tapings is calculated in compliance with ISO 5167 standard and the unit contains of straight piping sections in length 2D in front of and 2D behind the orifice plate, we are able to issue metrology approval in compliance with TCM 142/1993-001 in our AMS K 65.
