ISA 1932 nozzle –in-welded finish with individual tapings of pressure differential

Nozzles are special flow meters which are - due to their construction - more resistant to long-time heat and pressure stress (high-pressure steam, feed water). The nozzles are especially serviceable on a high-pressure part of boiler systems and distribution pipes. There are two construction types of nozzles: ISA 1932 nozzle and a long-radius nozzle (see chapter on special nozzles). In most cases the nozzle is being welded in by joining weld or placed between the flanges.

In-welded nozzles have short straightening parts in the piping. In-welds have advantages such as material savings on flanges and subsequently also minimisation of leakage in a flange joint. It is recommended to place nozzles between flanges only up to PN 100 pressure. Pressure differential tapings are either chamber ones (DN 50-80) or individual (DN 100-500). Working position of the flow meter can be both horizontal and vertical.

ISO 5167-3 standard defines possibility to use ISA 1932 nozzle for pipe diameters ranging from 50 to 500mm. For production of nozzles we mostly use 15 grade heat resisting steel (for steam) and 12 022 / 17 248 (for water). Range of usable steels for steam is so varied and developing so quickly that the newest combination for steam is P91 respectively P92 and Wb 36 (for steam) and A105 steel respectively 12 022/17 248 (for water). Counterflanges as well as nozzle body can also be made of PVC or polypropylene.
