Venturi tube |
Production programme of MATTECH company
covers production of classical Venturi tubes as well. This
metering device is produced in the range of nominal inside
diameter from DN 50 to DN 1200. Venturi tubes are designed and
produced with regard to requirements of customers (two-sided
measurement, special coating, heating with jacketing). As a
production method, machining practice (for lower DN), for higher
DN welding of sheet steel is used. |

In-welded Venturi tubes have cylindrical throat with required
tolerance given by the standard. Working position of flow meter can
be both vertical and horizontal. Venturi tubes can be produced for
invoicing purposes as a verified metering device (with verification).
For their production usually steel of 11 grade (for air), 12 and 15
(for steam) and 17 (for water and petrochemistry) are used. |

Main Advantages of Classical Venturi Tubes:
- in comparison with orifice plates and nozzles Venturi tubes
require considerably shorter straight lengths. Disturbing elements
affect the straight sections of piping and cause rotation of fluid,
e.g. two elbows on various levels.
- as a source of very low loss in pressure (4-20% of the measured
pressure differential) classical Venturi tube is economical
measuring element. It has the least pressure difference of all
primary elements.
- for high speed fluid flows such as steam Venturi tubes are
elements which cause the least wear of measuring areas.
- Venturi tubes are not clogged by sediments

Classical Venturi Tube consists of:

feed cylinder in length 1-3 D for pressure
differential taping (+)

conical type confuser with total angle of 21°

cylindrical throat for tapings pressure differential
tapings
(-). The throat length corresponds to diameter d.

conical diffuser with total angle between 7-15°
-
annular chamber for taping of pressure differential

feed cylinder and diffuser is finished by a flange
or welded joint finish (according to customer’s requirement)
